I do not want our friendship to change me

I want it to make what is best in me continue

continue so that the worst in me has not time to exist

I do not want loving you to fill my lonely heart

for my creative passion's thirst would be quenched

and lest I go insane trying to answer

how much time could presence be among us

practical everyday lifestyles irreconcilable

I must relinquish all rights to that knowledge
